A wonderfully varied route making use of forest tracks, green lanes and minor roads as well as the disused Whitby and Scarborough railway – ideal for dipping in and out of. Pick and choose from various routes which cross the stunning moorlands of North Yorkshire and through beautiful forests to the dramatic heritage coastline. Surfaces along off-road sections are mostly good and all-weather.
Essential Information: You can start at any point on the route but the official beginning is at Scarborough station, at the junction of the A64 and A165. All of the main towns on route offer good tourist facilities, including cafÚs. Bike hire is available close to Whitby (https://www.trailways.info) and Dalby Forest (01751 460400). The route is open all year round but at its best from April to October .
